One year after her tragic death, Baloch’s name still shines and still in the conversations and minds of people.
Fouzia Azeem was brutally killed by her brother for the sake of “honor” on July 15, 2016. Her brother felt that she had brought shame and disgrace to his family and their community. He thought that she will continue to shame his family so he ended her life to put a stop to the comments and statements of friends and family. The family and friends who pointed fingers to what she did and who she had become. But the question arises that did that stop it?
It was discovered recently that there are no Facebook memorial pages for Qandeel Baloch. Even her original Facebook page, all her videos were removed shortly after her death. Baloch’s Facebook page wasn’t even memorialized, it was deleted straight.
Madonna lauds Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s documentary on Qandeel Baloch
Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directed a short film in memory of Qandeel which was voiced by international pop-sensation, Madonna.
The video starts with a snippet of Baloch saying, “I will do something. I will do something that will shock everyone” and then Baloch’s video while being voiced over by Madonna.
Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s latest film is about Qandeel Baloch, the woman who gained popularity by social media was murdered by her brother in an “honor killing.” The Pakistan government finally just passed the anti honor killing bill. It is so good to see positive and good change happen in the world.
Today is the Day of the Girl, TIME FOR CHANGE; G C Festival said Madonna’s Instagram account with a picture of Qandeel Baloch in it.
Now there is also Saba Qamar’s who is also working in a film for Qandeel Baloch and playing Qandeel Baloch in a movie ‘Baaghi’. ‘Baaghi’ brought back Baloch’s name to the social media again. Initiatives are working against honor killing.

And there is another filmmaker Saad Khan’s initiative, a Facebook page called “Qandeel Ki Kahani”, which talks about her family and her fame etc.
