Imran Khan was elected Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s chairperson through high margins vote, during the PTI’s intra party poll.
The man with his clear leadership skills and a broad goodwill has won my fronts before. Though, let’s take a fairly closer look into what happened to this story.
The results of PTI intra-party poll are:
- Shah Mahmood Qureshi became PTI vice chairman
- Jahangir Tareen became PTI secretary-general
- Central Punjab President was elected to Aleem Khan
- Arif Alvi became Sindh Chapter President
- Balochistan Chapter President was elected to Yar Muhammad Rind
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa South President was elected to Ali Amin Gandapur
Chairing the Insaf panel, Imran Khan managed to earn 189,055 votes whereas Ehtesab the rival party earned 41,647 votes and around 26,256 votes got rejected.
During a two-day polling process, Party workers cast a total of 256,957 votes.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Chief Election Commissioner Azam Swati told,
That the part had to hold the intra-party elections in speed because the bat symbol from ECP draws near in 2018 General Elections.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’ spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry also said;
The results of intra-party polls are submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Election Commission also re-drafted the political party’s constitution and built a software for the accessible functioning of the intra-party poll.
The voters will only have two choices for panel 1 or 2 and anything written beside them, the vote will be disqualified.
2.7 million voters had the choice to choose between Imran Khan or Naik Muhammad Khan, according to amended constitution.
There were 14 members at each level.
Beside the Insaf panel and the Ehtesaab panel, no party member was given allowance to choose other than these.
