Pakistan has lost a lot of its forests during last decades. There were many reasons like illegal and ruthless tree cutting, ill-planned development as well as the expansion of farmland, fuel in far flung areas and for the impacts of climate change.
The country has also lost habitat of many species that was important to our ecosystems and to keep the biodiversity intact. Four forestry initiatives Pakistan is taking to fight climate change.
Kamran Hussain explained the country requirements to achieve result based REDD+ funding for Pakistan.
He informed the participants that a new mechanism has been initiated. That new mechanism involved paying cash credit to develop countries that protect forests and the carbon stored within them. He said that Pakistan can earn billions of rupees every year only by saving forests.
He said that protecting forests was only important for being the responsible member of global community. It is also important to maintain and protect our ecosystem. LHC issues notice to preserve and maintain forests.
